Youth Taking Action to Implement the 2030 Agenda – SDGs Youth Forum, Accra – Ghana. It’s Free!
As part of the International Youth Day, the forum seek to recognize the efforts of the youth and discuss ways in which young people can play an active role in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It also aims to address how the youth can best communicate on the Agenda, bringing on board the innovative use of social media and communication tools.
The theme for International Youth Day 2018 is Safe Spaces for Youth.
Youth need safe spaces where they can come together, engage in activities related to their diverse needs and interests, participate in decision making processes and freely express themselves. While there are many types of spaces, safe spaces ensure the dignity and safety of youth. Safe spaces such as civic spaces enable youth to engage in governance issues; public spaces afford youth the opportunity to participate in sports and other leisure activities in the community; digital spaces help youth interact virtually across borders with everyone; and well planned physical spaces can help accommodate the needs of diverse youth especially those vulnerable to marginalization or violence.
The Youth Forum will bring young leaders from within and around the capital city of Ghana. It is a platform for youth to engage in dialogue and contribute to policy formulation on global economic, social and environmental issues.
This two-day event features brainstorming town-hall sessions, interactive panels and discussions, providing youth representatives with an opportunity to voice their opinion, share ideas, and to think together about specific issues of relevance to youth in the context of implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The first day, that’s 11th August, shall host the forum and on the 12th August, we shall have a floating through the city with to advocate the implementation of the UN SDGs.
